On March 15th and 16th we’ll be holding events to commemorate three years since the Tohoku Earthquake and resulting Tsunami and meltdowns at Fukushima Daichi which led to the founding of Safecast. The 2-day program will consist of both talks and hands-on events. On Saturday, we’ll host a discussion at Tokyo University called “The Next Three Years” looking at what has happened so far and what we can expect and look forward to in the future. We’ll discuss policy and action as much as programs and philosophy. This will include individual presentations (speaker list coming soon) as well as time for questions and answers. We’re hoping to live stream these events. Saturday will conclude with a reception at Tokyo University.
Beginning Saturday evening and running until late Sunday evening we’ll host a global hackathon to work on the Safecast website. This is a vast project with room for everyone to help. Copywriters, translators, designers and coders are welcome. If you are interested, please join our hackathons mailing list for further details. In practice we’ll be looking at the site and rethinking section by section, as well as looking at the API and Maps to see what can be improved. On Sunday we’ll meet in person on 10F at our Dogenzaka offices (at Loftwork, above FabCafe) to hack on this in person, though people around the world are invited to join us remotely to help tackle the issues as we face them. We’re hoping to end Sunday with some major improvements.

Chernobyl and Daiichi: Inside stories
Safecaster Joe Moross, joined by PBS Science Reporter Miles O’Brien by live video link, will share what they saw and did during their recent visit to the Fukushima Daiichi NPP, and Yuichi Kojma will recount his visit to Chernobyl last year with media activist Daisuke Tsuda.
Voices from Fukushima
Fukushima based volunteers Jun Yamadera (Aizu Japan) and Rob Oudendijk will share their plans for the innovative Fukushima Wheel project, and we will hear from other Fukushima Safecast volunteers in person and via video.

セーフキャスト設立のきっかけとなった、東北地方太平洋沖地震と津波そして福島第一原発のメルトダウンから３年をしのび、3/15（土）、16（日）に、イベントを開催します。２日間のプログラムは、議論と実践的なイベントとなります。15日（土）には東京大学で「これからの３年間」というこれまで起きたことを見つめ直し、未来に向かって期待できることについてのディスカッションを予定しています。プログラムと哲学と同様に、ポリシーや活動について議論する予定です。質疑応答とあわせ個別の講演（講演者リストはまもなく発表します。）を含んでいます。これらのイベントはライブ中継したいと考えています。15日は東京大学でのレセプションで終了予定です。
15日の夕方より16日の夕方まで、セーフキャストのウェブサイトに関するグローバルハッカソンを実施します。これは、皆さんの協力をお願いする機会となる膨大なプロジェクトです。コピーライター、翻訳者、デザイナー、開発者など多くの方を歓迎します。もし、ご興味ありましたら、さらなる詳細についてハッカソンのメーリングリストにご参加ください。実際に、サイトを見てセクション毎に再考していきます。そして、改善がみられるよう、APIや地図についても見ていきます。世界中の人々から私達が直面している課題に立ち向かうのを遠隔で助けてもらえるよう招待していますが、16日はハックするために道玄坂のオフィス（1FがFabCafe、ロフトワーク）にて実際にお会いしましょう。その日はいくつかの大きな改善を行って終了したいと思っております。
