Director of the MIT Media Lab and Safecast Cofounder Joi Ito along with coauthor Jeff Howe have just published Whiplash: How to Survive Our Faster Future. This fantastic book dives deep into ideas initially introduced in Joi’s 9 Principals along with detailed examples of each in practice out in the world. Unsurprisingly Safecast plays a significant part of Chapter 2, Pull Over Push. This speaks to one of the core functional concepts of Safecast that we connect with the communities and our networks and pull in the knowledge and expertise we need in order to accomplish our goals and mission. We take this approach rather than trying to stockpile the information and push it out onto people who may or may not have any interest in it. This allows us to move faster with better results, and actually be a part of the endless and always growing global communities with whom we’re working. And that’s just one chapter, the others are also filled with thought provoking concepts that will certainly make you think.
