Knight News Challenge: Data
We’re excited to announce this morning that out of almost 900 submissions, along with LocalData, Development Seed (tools for Open Street Maps), Pop Up Archive, Open Elections and we have been selected as winners of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation’s Knight News Challenge: Data.
This grant will help us take what we’ve learned measuring radiation over the last year and apply that to other environmental factors, beginning with air quality. While our radiation work will continue from our base in Tokyo, this initiative will be rooted in Los Angeles with cooperation from our friends at Crash Space. Safecaster Ariel Levi Simons will heading up this project.
The Knight News Challenge accelerates media innovation by funding breakthrough ideas in news and information. More at See more on the Knight Blog as well.
